CNC Mill Setup Machinist

Schedule: 2:00pm – 10:30pm / Monday – Friday, with minimal overtime.
Pay Rate: Up to $35/hr. Open to direct hire opportunities.

Skilled Position: This position involves programming CNC Milling Centers, requiring knowledge of G&M codes and the ability to read blueprints/schematics. The role primarily focuses on low-volume prototype runs with multiple setups per day, and first-piece approvals at CMM (equipment includes Browne & Sharpe with PCDMIS software).
CNC Mill Setup Machinist will be responsible for:
- Administering all technical matters related to CNC setup.
- Prepare machines for prototype installation.
- Change over revolving jobs.
- Support machining lines and automated equipment technically.
- Communicate with CMM Technician to detect and resolve problems.
- Execute corrective solutions for fixing imperfections.
- Perform CNC machine start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Change worn tools, edit programs, and conduct dimensional analysis.
- Troubleshoot CNC machines and automated equipment.
- Inspect parts for issues and identify sources of imperfections.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities related to tooling, fixturing, process flow, and automation.
- Provide assistance, coaching, and training to new and existing colleagues.
- Address quality and operator machining issues.
- Support plant process improvements to enhance production efficiency and quality.
- Ensure “Zero defects” quality on products.
- Provide required data reports and system backups.
- Obtain parts for new production needs.
- Load new programs for production runs.
- Learn and troubleshoot operations of new machines.
- Adjust machine programming when necessary.
- Load and install jobs into machines for varied tasks.
- Read CMM reports and blueprints.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience performing CNC setup, with preference for job shop and low-volume production operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years' experience with CNC setup machining.
