Position Overview:
This role will be instrumental in maintaining the financial integrity of our construction projects. The ideal candidate will be experienced in construction accounting, highly organized, and comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. This person will play a key role in project billing, cost tracking, and coordination with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with project billing and coordination, including preparing progress billings and managing billing schedules

Communicate with project managers and customers to facilitate timely and accurate billing and project closeout

Perform job and equipment costing to ensure accurate tracking of labor, materials, and equipment usage

Handle accounts payable and receivable, including coding invoices and entering job-related financial data

Review and interpret city and residential contracts and manage complex billing elements such as bidding items and quantity tracking

Manage sales and income tax reporting, and assist in preparation for audits

Contribute to budget preparation, forecasting, and monthly financial reporting

Prepare certified payroll reports, manage prevailing wage compliance (if applicable), and process union/non-union payroll

Support and maintain job files, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready

Assist with WIP (Work in Progress) tracking and month-end close procedures
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field -would be nice, but not required

Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, ideally within the construction or trades industry

Experience with job costing, project billing, and contract review required

Familiarity with AIA billing, certified payroll, and prevailing wage a plus

Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, Sage, or Viewpoint preferred

Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to handle multiple tasks that are often time-consuming and require independent follow-through
