Electricians utilize an assortment of hand and power tools, a variety of test equipment, along with a working knowledge of blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, in confined spaces, under varying weather conditions, as well as multiple shifts. As with most positions in the shipyard, an Electrician may be required to work either day or night, depending on the number of ships under construction at any one point in time.
The organization stresses the practice of working safely in all situations, with safety procedures meeting, and often exceeding, industry standards.
