Job Overview:
Express Employment is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Marine Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of electrical systems used in marine vessels and ships, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical components on-board.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems on vessels, including wiring, lighting, motors, and control panels.
Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, both in dry dock and at sea.
Work with electrical schematics and blueprints to ensure proper installation and repair of electrical components.
Inspect electrical systems and components, ensuring compliance with marine industry standards and regulations.
Collaborate with shipyard engineers and other trades to support ongoing projects and repairs.
Ensure all work is performed safely and according to shipyard safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
Maintain accurate records of electrical work completed and materials used.
Assist in the inspection of electrical systems during routine or emergency dry-docking procedures.
Stay updated on the latest electrical technologies and standards relevant to marine applications.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Marine Electrician, or in a similar electrical role in a shipyard or maritime environment.
Certification in marine electrical systems, or equivalent technical education.
Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, AC/DC circuits, power distribution, and control systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical systems effectively.
Good physical condition and the ability to work in confined spaces or elevated areas on vessels.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
Experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of shipboard electrical equipment such as generators, motors, and lighting systems.
Knowledge of ship construction, electrical panel fabrication, and related shipbuilding processes.
Previous work experience with marine electrical systems in new construction, refits, or dry dock operations.
