Heavy Equipment Mechanic December 31, 2024

Located in Gulfport, MS

Pay: $18-25

Key Responsibilities:

Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, forklifts, cranes, and loaders.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Repair or replace faulty parts and components in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections on equipment.
Perform scheduled maintenance to ensure equipment is ready for operation, reducing downtime.
Inspect and test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functioning and safety.
Order necessary parts and materials to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
Work with the team to ensure that the work area is organized and safe.
Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and ensure the equipment operates in compliance with safety standards.
Respond to emergency repair requests when needed to minimize downtime.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or similar role.
In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment systems, including engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively and efficiently.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, repair manuals, and equipment.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to [insert weight limit, e.g., 50 lbs]) and work in various weather conditions.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications (e.g., ASE, or similar) are a plus.
Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to heavy equipment maintenance.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
