Ironworker Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Ironworker to join our team. You must be able to interpret blueprints and collaborate with other professionals on the job to ensure a mutual understanding of project scope and responsibilities. Our ideal candidate can measure, cut, and grind metal to specifications, checking that it matches the design plans. Once the components are ready, you utilize them in building, reinforcing, or repairing structures. Experience operating large machinery, such as crane balls, is also required.
Ironworker Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and understand blueprints and project layout
- Measure and cut metal parts to exact specifications
- Install or fabricate metal pieces into columns, girders, or other structural frameworks
- Repair or replace existing steel parts of buildings and other structures
- Operate crane ball and other machinery to move metal pieces into place
- Clean and maintain all tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good condition
- Follow all industry and governmental regulations on safety protocols
Ironworker Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some experience in welding or construction preferred
- Knowledge of how to handle metal properly
- Proficient in industry tools and equipment, such as hand and power tools and welding devices
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Able to lift at least 35 pounds and stand for extended periods
