General Operator
The General Operator role has a seasonality effect. The type of work assigned will vary based on the current season. In spring and summer, you will be assigned to teams supporting a variety of responsibilities. You could spend time inspecting and maintaining our seed crops or you could support seed inventory management at the plant. Fall is a busy season with harvesting and seed packaging in full swing. In the winter, you’ll be cleaning & packaging seed, supporting maintenance work, warehousing and shipping seed to ensure our customers have the product they need for the coming planting season.
The following is a general list of job tasks during the year.
September-October:
• Receive and process trucks hauling crop from the field for weighing and unloading.
• Complete a wide range of harvest activities: including combine cleaning
• Supply the Conditioning department with a constant supply of seed
• Apply appropriate treatment to seed
November-March
• Label, tag, bag and palletize seed
• Enter inventory information into computer
• Stage seed for shipment in warehouse
April -August:
• Retag in-house seed.
• Re-bag backhaul (returned) seed
• Inspect pro boxes to ensure they are free of debris and clean
• Wash pro boxes as necessary
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Knowledge of production agriculture and production plant operations
• Ability to safely perform duties in timely fashion while maintaining seed quality
• Ability to work independently or with a team
• Ability to adjust to changing conditions and anticipate needs
• Ability to make independent decisions
QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Pass a background check and other pre-employment screenings
• Have reliable transportation to the site and be able to arrive at the work site as instructed
• Maintain enthusiasm, good attitude, honesty and a willingness to treat all with respect
• Ability to work long hours and rotational shifts, including over-time as needed;
• Ability to communicate verbally and written
• Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60 pounds, work in and outdoors, walk on uneven surfaces
Please note schedule-
August-September
Must be flexible to rotate work schedule every 2 weeks
2 - weeks could be 8 hour shifts Mon-Fri 6am-2:30pm
2 - weeks could be 10 hour shift Mon-Thursday 2pm-12:30am
These hours/days will change throughout the year depending on the need for supply.
Nov-March
Must be flexible to rotate work schedule
Receiving/Conditioning/Packaging
Monday-Sunday 4 Weeks on day shift then rotates to 4 Weeks on night shift or vice versa
Weekly Schedule- 4 days on then off 4 days, weekly rotating schedule.
6:00am-6:15pm & 6:00pm-6:15am
Shipping
Monday-Friday 2 week rotation
6:00am-2:30pm & 2:00pm-10:30pm
*****Please note production season (Oct-Mar shifts are 12 hours, 1st and 3rd shift.
6am-6:15pm and 6pm-6:15am. Must be flexible to rotate shifts as listed.****
Will start at $18.00 per hour for day shift
