Job Full Description

A sports coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing sports programs and events, including scheduling practices and games, recruiting and supervising coaches, managing budgets, ensuring safety compliance, and promoting participation in various sports, all while fostering a positive and inclusive environment for participants. 
 
Key responsibilities of a sports coordinator:
  • Program Development:
    Design and implement sports programs for different age groups and skill levels, including intramural leagues, club sports, and competitive teams. 
     
  • Scheduling:
    Coordinate practice schedules, game days, and tournaments, ensuring proper facility allocation and time management. 
     
  • Coach Management:
    Recruit, hire, train, and supervise coaches, ensuring they meet qualifications and adhere to program standards. 
     
  • Participant Recruitment:
    Promote sports programs through marketing, outreach, and community engagement to increase participation. 
     
  • Budget Management:
    Create and manage budgets for sports programs, allocating funds for equipment, facilities, and operational costs. 
     
  • Safety Compliance:
    Enforce safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring proper equipment usage, athlete health checks, and emergency procedures. 
     
  • Event Coordination:
    Plan and execute special sporting events, including logistics, registration, officiating, and awards ceremonies. 
     
  • Data Tracking:
    Monitor program metrics like participation numbers, athlete performance, and program effectiveness to make informed adjustments. 
     
  • Communication:
    Maintain open communication with coaches, athletes, parents, facility managers, and other stakeholders. 
     
Required skills and qualifications:
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Knowledge of various sports rules and regulations
  • Experience in coaching or sports administration
  • Budget management and financial planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • First aid and CPR certification may be required depending on the role
