JOB SUMMARY

 

Daily management of assigned work ques related to scheduling to ensure appointments are made in a timely manner in accordance with outpatient guidelines and productivity expectations for multiple professional disciplines. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to talk with professionals, patients, and guardians who come from all manner of understanding and socio/economic perspective. This position is well served by an individual who can confidently, calmly, and compassionately answer questions and problem solve scheduling requests.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Directing patients and guardians to proper extensions outside of scheduling needs.
  • Scheduling appointments from assigned work ques including in-person and virtual appointments for follow ups, and cancellations and other scheduling requests submitted by providers.
  • Verifying demographic and insurance information from patients and guardians as required by Central Registration.
  • Communicating with outpatient providers when provider change requests are made by patients or guardians.
  • Documenting all encounters with patients and guardians in the electronic health record.
  • Providing requested reports related to follow up and cancellation appointments, productivity, and scheduling to be used as part of the Outpatient Quality Assessment Performance Improvement plan.
  • Attending and participating in all required meetings.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned or requested.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Strong self-motivation and comfort with remote work.
  • Technical skills for troubleshooting of computer and connection issues associated with remote work.
  • Regular, predictable and reliable attendance at work.
  • Interact professionally and cordially with patients, coworkers, supervisors, and others.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic knowledge of electronic health record systems.
  • Knowledge of general office machines. Telephone, typing, and filing skills. Organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with professionals and patients.
  • Accurate spelling. Ability to work well with people. Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to work independently after instructions are provided.
  • Ability to function with an interdisciplinary team.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE;

  • Required: High school graduate or GED equivalent. Previous experience in general or medical office.
  • Preferred: Experience in utilizing medical terminology. Typing skill of 60-75 wpm
