POSITION SUMMARY:

The role is responsible for operating and troubleshooting robot equipment in the wrapping and packing area as well as performing quality checks, monitoring line equipment performance, and supporting team members.

This position is responsible for complying with safety work rules at all times and has an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. To reduce product and process variability, it ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety and quality are followed and complied with uniformly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attendance is essential to perform duties
  • Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and trainings
  • Always ensure regulatory compliance
  • Inspect the robot at start-ups to ensure it is ready to run by completing the start-up check sheet
  • Ensure all boxes are completely within the pallet with no overhang to reduce damages to the product
  • Inspect each pallet to ensure it is of the quality required. (Broken boards, nails etc.)
  • Identify and ensure we are using the correct pallet pattern to obtain the right quantity on the pallet
  • Maintain log of all unusual problems and mechanical downtime along with alerting maintenance and supervisors as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of the area all the time
  • Operate the case packer when needed
  • Must be able to perform all mechanical & PLC change-over on the robot and caser
  • Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies/procedures and incorporate safety and health in all job duties/tasks
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent years of experience preferred
  • Must have a good understanding and knowledge of the machines
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Workers are required to wear proper PPE such as hair nets, ear plugs, and certain areas require earmuffs
  • Ability to bend, stoop and reach above shoulder level
  • Continuous standing
  • Frequent repetitive hand motion
  • Ability to work indoors in wet and humid environments and stand on hard surfaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs
