Job Full Description
We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant to support the acquisition of a nutraceutical company by one of our private equity clients. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role under the new ownership. The business transaction is a carveout of a subsidiary from a larger entity, so there will be a need to participate in financial execution activities.
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in overseeing accounting processes supporting our business growth, particularly within private equity-backed organizations, startups, and/or M&A environments. The role is hybrid so will require frequent on-site presence. The candidate should be currently within commuting distance to Kearny, NJ.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee aspects of accounting including the supervision of the General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Review account reconciliation from subledger to General Ledger.
- Oversee company's ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with general accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Perform inter-company transactions within the accounting system.
- Prepare for audit and review.
- Prepare month end close.
- Advance knowledge of NetSuite, our ERP tool, and assist with training other employees as required
- Process improvement initiatives.
- Financial statement variance analysis & reconciliation
- Plant & cost accounting (including inventory)
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Intercompany accounting & eliminations
- Tax & tax Accounting (e.g. sales & use tax)
- Working Capital Reporting (DSO, DPO, Liquidity)
- Lease accounting
- OBS / NWC
- Ad Hoc reporting and projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
- 6+ years of experience working in a manufacturing setting with at least 2 years as a senior accountant.
- Public Accounting experience is preferred.
- Excellent computer skills required, including prior experience with an ERP system/SAP, advanced Excel, and experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Excellent analytical and meticulous skills required, with the ability to succeed as an individual, and at the same time excel in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal and influential skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Experience in SAP (Running transaction codes and downloading data)
