Job Summary:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment within the manufacturing plant. This position involves implementing safety policies and programs, conducting safety training, inspecting equipment and workspaces for hazards, and maintaining compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Program Management:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain the plant's safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, etc.).
    • Review and update safety procedures and policies regularly.
  2. Safety Inspections and Audits:

    • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
    • Prepare and submit reports on safety findings and corrective actions taken.
    • Ensure that all equipment and workstations are safe and compliant with safety standards.
  3. Training & Education:

    • Conduct safety training for employees, including hazard communication, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage, fire safety, and emergency procedures.
    • Ensure employees are aware of and adhere to safety protocols, and conduct refresher courses as needed.
  4. Incident Investigation & Reporting:

    • Investigate workplace accidents or near misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures.
    • Prepare incident reports and submit them to management for review.
  5. Compliance and Recordkeeping:

    • Maintain safety records and reports, including injury logs, OSHA 300 logs, and other necessary documentation.
    • Assist in audits and inspections by regulatory agencies.
  6. Emergency Preparedness:

    • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, including evacuation routes, fire drills, and first aid procedures.
    • Maintain safety equipment such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency alarms.
  7. Safety Communication:

    • Communicate safety issues and concerns to management and employees.
    • Foster a culture of safety by promoting active participation in safety programs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (required). Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in safety coordination or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour certification (preferred); First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
    • Ability to conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
    • Strong communication and training skills.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift or carry items up to [insert weight].
