Job Full Description
An ophthalmology office in Hendersonville is currently seeking a full-time Eye Care Medical Scribe to be the assistant to the physician. This ophthalmology office is a physician-owned practice specializing in diseases and surgery of the eye, with a strong commitment to excellence in eye care. This position will work in our Hendersonville office, with some travel to our Skyland (South Asheville) office, depending on where the physician is working that day. Experience in ophthalmology is a plus, but not required. Summary
Assist and transcribe for the Ophthalmologist during patient examinations. Requires the ability to anticipate the physician's and patient's needs and act as a primary team member of the ophthalmic staff.
Full time schedule
$18/hr starting pay DOE
Essential Functions:
- Provide excellent patient care and customer service to all our patients.
- Maintain practice and patient confidentiality at all times.
- Understand and utilize specific ophthalmic equipment.
- Assist in the efficient movement/flow of patients through sequence and evaluation.
- Prepare exam rooms with medications, forms, consents, and education materials and assist the doctor during examinations.
- Scribe in patient EMR to document patient visits and examinations.
- List all appropriate diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as directed by the physician.
- Assist with scheduling and follow-up appointments for labs or surgeries.
- Provide patients and/or family members with instructions for self-care and follow-up as directed by the physician.
- Assist the doctor with patient calls, pharmacy calls, etc.,
- Facilitate referrals and letter correspondence with outside physicians by email, fax or mail.
- Communicate effectively with the front desk, physician, ophthalmic assistant, and clinic supervisors to ensure efficient patient care.
- Provide assistance or duties to other clinic personnel as needed as determined by the clinic manager and doctor.
- Ability to travel to all office locations when needed.
