Job Title: Bookkeeper
Location: Near Waynesville, NC
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Remote 1 day per week)
Pay Rate: $20-$24/hr DOE

Position Overview:
Our client, an established and growing organization near Waynesville, NC, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to support their financial operations and assist with payroll. If you are detail-driven, task-oriented, and have at least 1 year of experience in bookkeeping, finance, or a related field, this opportunity could be a great fit for you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all financial transactions using accounting systems, including the General Ledger.
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Process monthly payroll, including state and federal taxes, SIMPLE IRA contributions, and other payroll liabilities.
- Prepare and submit quarterly payroll taxes and reports.
- Track company expenditures and ensure transparency by collecting and recording receipts.
- Reconcile all bank accounts and make deposits promptly.
- Maintain QuickBooks and coordinate financial records with third-party camp and school registration software.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on budgeting and financial planning.
- Generate monthly financial reports for the Executive Director and Board.
- Track annual notes payable and prepare year-end tax documentation, including W-2s, 1099s, and financial records for external accounting purposes.
- Assist with annual publications of Form 990 and Workers' Compensation audits.
- Complete bi-annual NC sales tax refunds.
- Support fundraising efforts by tracking contributions and managing investment accounts.
- Invoice vendors and customers, including tracking refundable damage deposits.
- Manage program cash needs and serve as part of the summer registration team.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience in bookkeeping, finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks online, Microsoft Office Suite, and financial software.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
- Superior communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Familiarity with GAAP and legal compliance requirements.
- Ability to sit for long periods and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
