JOB SUMMARY

 

The Press Brake Operator performs metalworking operations which shape and form sheet or other light metal into parts or products and is responsible for meeting daily production requirements. Operation and setup of bending machines. Precise work according to design drawings, parts lists, and working papers. Quality responsibility for the manufactured parts. Working independently according to specifications. This position is dedicated to getting the job done right the first time and promotes a safe work environment focused on overall continuous improvement and world-class manufacturing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned or re-assigned as the Manufacturing Facility expands.

? Layout, set up, and operate one or more press brake machines and potentially other metalworking equipment such as shears, saws, plate rolls, drills, or profile benders to cut, bend, roll or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products.

? Check product quality for correct shapes, dimensions, and other specifications.

? Troubleshoot and perform corrective action or minor repairs on non-conforming parts.

? Transport material to the work area manually or using an overhead crane or pallet jack.

? Using barcode scanners for logging and moving material from location to location.

? Provide timely information regarding problems in production that may adversely affect quality, or delivery time.

? Analyze tooling, setups, and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.

? Read and understand manufacturing drawings in order to set up machines properly for the operation.

? Remain constantly alert to detect improper part forming.

? Troubleshoot general material issues as they arise.

? Work as part of the team to share ideas and improve operations, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards.

? Undertake continuous training and development.

? Perform routine maintenance on press brakes and other bending machines.

? Troubleshoot problems with machines and remedy.

? Follows all safety policies and procedures.

? Works to meet set goals agreed with by Machining and Fabrication Supervisor.

Other duties as set forth as set forth my the Machining and Fabrication Supervisor or Manufacturing Manager. Skills and Attributes

1. Ability to perform sheet metal operations with accuracy and precision.

2. Calculate and check tonnage require to bend specific parts based on thickness/length/material.

3. Great working knowledge of Trumpf bending machines and their UI.

4. Able to troubleshoot why material is non-conforming if so (wrong k-factors, etc..) to educate CAD team.

5. Knows how to work with different hand tools in a safe matter.

6. Read and understands blueprints.

7. Inspect parts visually and mechanically for conformance to the print and process dimensions.

8. Able to operate, overhead cranes, and other lifting devices.

9. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.

10. Good communication skills and attention to detail.

11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

12. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills

13. Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.

14. Ability to work under pressure.

15. Understanding of production processes with strong regard for production quality.

16. Be optimistic and open to change.

17. Required background screening and drug test.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Consistent attendance is expected and required. Flexibility to respond to troubleshooting issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a shop setting with exposure to shop noise, dust and particles to be expected in this role.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

1. Physically active role

2. Must have manual dexterity – to operate and utilize a variety of power and hand tools assembly or shop tasks required – use of hands and feet required – data entry possible.

3. Lifting of metal is involved which can be heavy.

4. Regularly required to stand, reach, bend, squat, push, pull, and move about the facility.

5. Walk or stand at least 8+ hours per day.

6. Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
