Job Full Description

POSITION PURPOSE

Manage and promote all aspects of the business including but not limited to buying, pricing, sales, and merchandising, loss prevention, and training and managing staff.  Promote a high level of customer service and involvement, and continually strive for innovative solutions and alternatives in bettering the business.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1.   Meet or exceed all financial goals, as directed by the DM/Owner, focusing on sales, inventory levels and labor costs.

 

2.   Maintain all controllable expenses.

 

3.   Drive sales through the professional development of Sales Associates, focusing on     coaching training, and role modeling acceptable selling practices.

 

4.   Increase sales and determine future inventory needs by using the CAP Report, Used Inventory Productivity Report, and the Unit Information Report.  Communicate this plan to the District Manager. 

 

5.   Focus on improving the buy process and training the staff in an effort to reduce the amount of defective and clearance merchandise.  Ensure that all buyers are certified and that buyer certification is an ongoing process.

 

6.   Promote and model superior customer service to all customers, every day.  Insure that all store associates understand and support the promotion of excellent customer service at all times.

 

7.   Ensure that the stores’ visual & merchandise presentation is always a priority.  Displays and signage must be seasonally correct.

 

8.   The store must be kept clean and free of odors at all times.

 

9.   Hire, schedule, train and evaluate staff.  Complete performance evaluations as directed by District Manager.  Have a development plan that will include hiring and training appropriate candidates with the ability for advancement to higher levels of responsibility and promotion.

 

10. Establish and maintain appropriate security procedures including computer cash register and open/close procedures.  Prepare daily bank deposits.

 

11. Pro-actively handle all store’s daily operations and problems as they occur, including computer issues and customer complaints.  Continually communicate with the Store Manager and work as a team to ensue that the store always delivers excellent customer service and meets sales goals.

 

12. Complete all required paperwork, including daily, weekly and monthly reports and logs. 

QUALIFICATIONS

1.   4-year degree in business preferred.

 

2.    2+ years prior management and supervisory experience, plus 3 years retail sales experience, preferably in similar merchandise lines.

 

3.    Strong leadership, organizational skills, and time management skills critical.

 

4.    Proven customer service skills and strong interpersonal communication skills required.

 

5.    Sales and goal oriented.

 

6.   Must be computer literate and have internet access.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1.   Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

2.   Lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance. 

3.   Bending, rotating, and reaching conducive to a retail environment and to receiving, pricing, and stocking merchandise.

4.   Able to operate a computerized sales terminal.

5.   No exposure to hazardous materials or environments.
