Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment & Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This role involves working on company trucks and a variety of heavy equipment including tracked excavator, front-end loaders, feller bunchers, skid steers, and excavators. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, have experience with diesel engine systems, and demonstrate a high level of physical stamina and attention to detail.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on company trucks (heavy-duty), including brakes, tires, drums, and internal engine work.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy equipment.

  • Conduct welding and fabrication tasks as needed for equipment repair.

  • Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.

  • Operate heavy equipment for testing and transport purposes.

  • Travel up to 70 miles to retrieve equipment and operate service trucks as required.

  • Ensure work is completed in compliance with safety standards and company procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and parts used.

  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and occasionally customers.

  • Manage time efficiently to meet repair deadlines and reduce downtime.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced as a diesel mechanic and/or heavy equipment mechanic.

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and mechanical components.

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.

  • Proficient in welding and fabrication techniques.

  • Capable of lifting up to 100 lbs. and working in physically demanding environments.

  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.

  • Strong time management, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Commitment to safety and attention to detail in all tasks.

Preferred Skills:

  • Technical training or certification in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair.

  • Familiarity with service software and diagnostic tools.
