Job Full Description

Company in Millbury seeking a Quality Technician. The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of 3D-printed components produced using additive manufacturing technologies such as SLA and SLS. This role involves inspecting, testing, and validating printed parts to meet customer and company standards while maintaining quality assurance processes in a high-precision manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of 3D-printed parts using precision hand held measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages.).
  • Ensure adherence to customer standards and internal quality protocols.
  • Review and approve first article inspection (FAI) reports and process validations.

Process Monitoring & Improvement:

  • Monitor and document process parameters during ALM production to ensure consistency and repeatability.
  • Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for quality deviations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance print quality and minimize defects.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and quality deviations.
  • Prepare quality reports, control charts, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). These reports will then be shared with our technical teams at the headquarters level.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer-specific documentation requirements.

Collaboration & Compliance:

  • Work closely with customer service representatives, production engineers, design teams, and manufacturing operators to resolve quality issues.
  • Participate in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with quality management systems.
  • Support training efforts for production personnel on quality control procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: HS Diploma or an Associated Degree in a similar field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years in a quality assurance role, preferably in additive manufacturing or precision machining.
    • Some Hands-on experience with 3D printing technologies (SLS, SLA, FDM, DMLS, EBM, etc.). Preferred
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in using some hand held metrology and inspection equipment.
    • Knowledge of material properties for polymers, metals, and composites used in ALM.
    • Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) a plus or Yellow and or Green Belt.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing software.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific requirements.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Work in a Manufacturing setting with exposure to high-temperature equipment, powders, and resins.
  • May require standing, bending, and lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of PPE (gloves, masks, safety glasses) as needed in production areas.
