Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm  Columbus, OH

 

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to assist in providing support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders, helping them navigate their path toward recovery. Responsibilities:

  • Assist Chemical Dependency Counselors in providing individual and group counseling sessions for clients dealing with substance use issues.
  • Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and treatment goals in accordance with program protocols.
  • Provide support in conducting assessments and screenings to determine the severity of substance use and appropriate treatment options.
  • Help maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients, offering encouragement and emotional support.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and help de-escalate situations when necessary.
  • Provide administrative support, including filing, maintaining case records, and assisting with scheduling appointments.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal guidelines as they relate to substance abuse treatment.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to continue professional development.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, or addiction counseling) preferred.
  • Experience or education in chemical dependency, addiction treatment, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
  • Compassionate and non-judgmental attitude towards individuals dealing with addiction.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment modalities is a plus.
