Job Full Description
Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered equipment and vehicles with precision and expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations of diesel engines, identifying mechanical and electrical issues using advanced diagnostic equipment
- Perform complex repairs and maintenance on diesel engines for various types of equipment, including heavy machinery, trucks, and industrial vehicles
- Disassemble and reassemble engine components, replacing worn or damaged parts with high-quality replacements
- Conduct thorough inspections of engine systems, including fuel, electrical, cooling, and exhaust systems
- Maintain detailed and accurate repair and maintenance records
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
- Use specialized tools and diagnostic equipment with precision and care
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications
- Communicate effectively with team members and management about equipment status and repair needs
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent technical certification
- Completed diesel mechanics certification or vocational training program
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional diesel mechanic experience
- Proven expertise in diesel engine repair and maintenance
- Strong understanding of diesel engine systems and components
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and computerized testing equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagnostic charts
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Valid driver's license
Required Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engine systems
- Expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Proficiency with welding and fabrication techniques
- Understanding of electrical systems and computer-controlled components
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams and schematics
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Standing, bending, and moving around work site for extended periods
- Working in various environmental conditions
- Using hand and power tools
Preferred Additional Certifications:
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification
