Job Full Description

Responsible for efficiently preparing and cooking various food items in a designated cooking station within the school cafeteria, following established recipes and adhering to strict food safety guidelines, ensuring quick and consistent meal service to students and staff during lunch periods.

Key responsibilities may include:

Food Preparation:
Prepping ingredients like chopping vegetables, measuring spices, and portioning meats according to daily menu plans.

Cooking assigned dishes on designated cooking equipment like griddles, fryers, ovens, and steamers.

Maintaining proper cooking temperatures to ensure food safety.

Following standardized recipes and portion sizes.
Station Management:
Maintaining cleanliness and organization within assigned cooking station

Monitoring food inventory and communicating needs to the head cook

Rotating food stock to ensure freshness
Food Safety:
Adhering to proper food handling practices, including handwashing and proper storage techniques

Following sanitation procedures for equipment and work surfaces

Reporting any potential food safety hazards to the supervisor
Teamwork:
Coordinating with other line cooks to maintain a smooth service flow

Communicating effectively with the cafeteria staff regarding meal preparation and any dietary restrictions

Required Skills:

Basic culinary skills including knife handling, cooking techniques, and food safety knowledge
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
