Job Summary:

The Hotel Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest rooms and common areas to ensure they meet the hotel's cleanliness standards. They work to provide a comfortable and pleasant environment for guests, ensuring that rooms are clean, well-stocked, and ready for new arrivals. Housekeepers also assist with laundry, stocking supplies, and reporting maintenance issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning Guest Rooms: Clean guest rooms, including making beds, dusting furniture, vacuuming carpets, and cleaning bathrooms. Ensure that all amenities (e.g., towels, toiletries, linens) are properly stocked and in good condition.
  • Cleaning Public Areas: Clean and maintain public spaces such as hallways, lobbies, and restrooms. Ensure that these areas are tidy, well-stocked, and presentable at all times.
  • Changing Linens and Towels: Change bed linens, towels, and other bedding materials regularly, ensuring they are fresh and free from stains or damage.
  • Laundry Duties: Wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens and towels as needed. Ensure that all linens are in good condition and report any damaged items to the supervisor.
  • Restocking Supplies: Replenish room supplies such as toilet paper, shampoo, soap, and other toiletries. Ensure that rooms are fully stocked for guests upon their arrival.
  • Maintaining Cleaning Equipment: Use cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, and cleaning solutions. Maintain the cleanliness and proper functioning of these tools and report any issues or malfunctions.
  • Reporting Maintenance Issues: Notify the maintenance department or supervisor of any issues in the guest rooms or common areas (e.g., plumbing problems, broken furniture, lighting issues).
  • Guest Interaction: Provide excellent customer service by responding to guest requests for additional amenities or supplies. Ensure that guests have a positive experience and address any concerns politely and professionally.
  • Follow Hotel Standards: Adhere to hotel policies, procedures, and cleanliness standards to ensure consistent quality of service.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in housekeeping or cleaning (preferably in a hotel setting) is beneficial but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals, and equipment.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to meet cleanliness standards.
    • Strong time management skills to complete tasks efficiently.
    • Ability to lift heavy items (such as linens, cleaning equipment) and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
    • Good communication skills to interact with guests, supervisors, and other hotel staff.
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Personal Traits: Organized, reliable, and punctual. A strong work ethic and positive attitude are essential in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work efficiently.
  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks for several hours at a time.
