Summary/Objective
The Production Manager position oversees management of all areas of manufacturing to produce products and direct activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.

Essential Functions:

  1. Communicates clearly and effectively with clients and other departments to maintain and grow our business relationships both internal and external.
  2. Assists company officers and senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
  3. Coordinates with other departments to create accurate quotes for clients.
  4. Develop the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
  5. Achieves optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet production requirements.
  6. Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the enterprise.
  7. Directs and monitors production supervisors to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Acts as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
  8. Hires, trains, develops and evaluates staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
  9. Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Directs the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
  10. Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
  11. Works closely with Plant Maintenance manager to coordinate major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
  12. Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position manages all employees and supervisors of the production department and is responsible for the performance management of the employees within that department.

Work Environment:

The performance of this position will often require exposure to the manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Close inspection of processes and equipment, while in operation, may present considerable hazard.  For the most part the employee will be exposed to ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.  This position is classified as “Safety Sensitive” under Oklahoma law.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. The position may require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. The employee may reach above shoulder heights or below the waist or lift as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques are required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. or as agreed to by the General Manager.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Preferred Education and Experience:

·         BA/BS in industrial, mechanical or business administration, a 4-year technical degree in related discipline or equivalent experience.

·         5+ years of experience in manufacturing and management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry. A minimum of 3 years of experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer.

·         Experience working with manufacturing-based technology, processes and principles is preferred.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

Must be legally eligible to work in the United States of America.
