Job Title:
UV Coater Operator
Job Summary:
The UV Coater Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining UV coating equipment to enhance printed materials' durability, visual appeal, and overall quality. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to meeting production schedules while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Operation:
- Set up, adjust, and operate UV coating machines according to job specifications.
- Load printed materials into the coater and ensure proper alignment for coating application.
- Monitor coating application to ensure uniformity, quality, and adherence to specifications.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on UV coating equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or technical issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all safety protocols and procedures.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring they meet company and customer standards.
- Adjust machine settings to correct defects or imperfections.
- Perform spot checks throughout the coating process.
- Production Support:
- Collaborate with prepress, press, and finishing team leads to meet production schedules.
- Assist with other tasks in the print shop as needed, such as material handling or packaging.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills:
- Experience operating UV coating or similar printing/finishing equipment.
- Knowledge of UV coating types, materials, and application processes.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to Detail:
- Strong eye for color, texture, and overall print quality.
- Ability to identify and address defects such as streaking or uneven coating.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), and work in a production environment.
- Teamwork and Communication:
- Strong collaboration skills to coordinate with other production team members.
- Clear verbal and written communication for reporting and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a print production environment.
- Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in a printing or coating facility.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced print production facility with exposure to noise, inks, and solvents.
- Requires adherence to safety protocols for UV equipment and chemical handling.
