Job Full Description
A Saw Operator sets up and operates a metal cutting band saw to cut metal, brass, and aluminum workpieces according to specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, or patterns to determine equipment set-up, procedures to be used, or specifications of final products.
· Set up and operate metal cutting band saws.
· Obtain and transfer material to designated machine areas manually, with a hoist or overhead crane.
· Install saw blades and set blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation.
· Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpieces, using hand tools and measuring devices.
· Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products are not flawed; measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
Set up and operate grinding and related tools that remove burrs from part surfaces.
