Controller Assistant
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of both governmental and general ledger accounting practices.

Duties
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports.
- Perform general ledger reconciliation and maintain accurate records.
- Oversee accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely billing and collections.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Support budgeting processes by providing forecasts and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records through double entry bookkeeping practices.
- Provide support for governmental accounting requirements as needed.
- Allows the ability to develop and implement strategies to reach company objectives.
- Your assignments will include but not be limited to business analysis trends, alternative investment planning, return analysis and reporting, and executive briefings.
- Manage all accounting operations based on accounting principles
- Prepare budget and financial forecasts
- Publish financial statements in time
- Conduct month-end and year-end close process
- Collect, analyze and summarize account information
- (Highlight the following if possible: PTO, company culture, growth potential)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred. Equivalent professional field of experience will also be considered.
- Proven experience in general ledger accounting and reconciliation.
- Strong understanding of debits and credits, as well as double entry bookkeeping.
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial forecasting.
- Knowledge of IFRS standards is preferred.
- Experience with governmental accounting is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
