Quality Control Technician – $22-$25/hr + Benefits

Location: Tangent, OR
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Shift: Rotating Shifts (including nights and weekends as needed)

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Quality Control Technician for a leading seed production facility in Tangent, OR. The Quality Control Technician plays a vital role in ensuring seed quality and integrity through rigorous testing and data analysis, contributing to a production process that meets the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a variety of seed quality tests, including germination, purity, sizing, x-ray analysis, moisture testing, genetic analysis, and stress testing.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability in testing.
  • Perform data entry and analysis using multiple software tools to track and document results.
  • Train new and temporary employees on Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain and follow quality control protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Pull, store, and prepare seed samples for testing, including soil mixing (forklift operation required).
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships across multiple departments.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and PPE requirements.
  • Work rotating shifts as needed to meet production demands.
  • Occasionally travel, drive, or operate a forklift on behalf of the business.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to enter and analyze data.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination (ability to use forceps with precision).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends as needed.
  • Ability to become forklift certified.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with seed testing procedures and lab protocols.
  • Strong basic math skills and ability to analyze numerical data.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role requires working in varied environmental conditions (loud, hot, cold, dusty, damp). Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and be able to move safely across multiple work areas, including staircases and elevated surfaces. Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently is required.
