Job Full Description
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management, preferably in an OB-GYN or similar specialty.
- Certification in medical billing/coding is preferred.
- A degree in healthcare administration is preferred.
- Proficiency in Epic and eCW or other EHR systems.
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong analytical skills for identifying and resolving billing issues and claim errors.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively support patients, staff, and providers with billing inquiries.
- Customer service-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and documentation.
JOB SUMMARY:
Experience in Epic billing systems and a strong understanding of healthcare claims, pending claim follow-up, and denial management processes. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely claims submission, efficient handling of payment discrepancies, and maximizing revenue cycle performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensuring accurate insurance coverage, charge entry, and resolution of account issues before claim submission.
- Address coding changes and account errors.
- Address billing errors, corrected claims, and other discrepancies.
- Support claim denials and no response claims.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and pay guidelines.
- Answered patient calls, and billing inquiries, and processed payments.
- Collaborate with the team to develop resources and guidance for providers and staff.
- Support retrieval of hospital documents through SCMC Epic notifications to support accurate patient records.
- Verify benefits for patients post-delivery, calculating visit coverage for transfers of care and insurance splits.
- Closeout OB episodes and manage billing for transfers of care and spontaneous abortions (SABs).
- Process the SCMC Reconciliation report for hospital documentation and maintain other business office spreadsheets.
- Support payment posting.
- Support patient credits and refunds in Epic.
