What You Get to Do!
The Vice President (VP) of Finance and Accounting will play a critical leadership role in overseeing the financial operations and strategic direction of a growing manufacturing organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP will be responsible for the development and execution of financial strategies to ensure profitability, scalability, and long-term financial health. This role will manage all aspects of financial planning, analysis, reporting, and accounting, as well as ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices. The VP of Finance and Accounting will lead a team, providing mentorship and ensuring the department’s activities align with the organization’s business goals. Additionally, this position will collaborate closely with other senior leaders to drive operational efficiency, manage financial risks, and support data-driven decision-making across the business. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in manufacturing finance, a strong track record of financial leadership, and a forward-thinking approach to supporting the company’s growth trajectory.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Leadership & Strategy
o Lead the finance and accounting department, including overseeing all financial operations.
o Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s growth, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
o Provide executive leadership and guidance to senior management on all financial matters, supporting business decisions through detailed financial insights.
o Serve as a strategic partner to the leadership team, offering advice on financial planning, investment strategies, and cost management.
• Financial Reporting & Oversight
o Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
o Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including GAAP and industry standards.
o Maintain control over accounting policies and procedures, ensuring the integrity of all financial data and reports.
o Lead the annual budgeting process, providing financial forecasts and long-term planning.
• Manufacturing Accounting Expertise
o Manage and optimize cost accounting, inventory management, and job costing systems within the manufacturing environment.
o Develop and implement financial reporting systems specific to the manufacturing industry, ensuring accurate cost analysis and variance reporting.
o Analyze and improve manufacturing cost structures, including labor, materials, and overhead, to drive profitability and operational efficiency.
o Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to improve financial forecasting accuracy and cost control.
• Team Management & Development
o Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team, fostering professional development and continuous learning.
o Set clear performance objectives for team members and ensure efficient resource allocation to meet department and company goals.
o Lead the recruitment and retention of key finance personnel and ensure proper training and development.
• Risk Management & Compliance
o Oversee internal controls, risk management strategies, and financial audits, ensuring compliance with both internal and external standards.
o Proactively identify and manage financial risks, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
o Ensure the company adheres to industry regulations and maintains the highest standards of ethical financial practices.
• System & Process Improvement
o Drive process improvements and the adoption of new technologies to streamline financial reporting and accounting operations.
o Evaluate and enhance existing ERP systems to improve data accuracy and reporting efficiency in a manufacturing environment.
o Implement best practices in financial operations and internal controls to support company-wide efficiency.
What You Will Bring...
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
• 10+ years of finance and accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Extensive experience in manufacturing accounting, including cost accounting, inventory management, and financial analysis within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record of financial leadership and business acumen in a fast-paced, growing organization.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Experience in overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
• Expertise in ERP systems, financial reporting software, and process automation tools.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
