Job Title: Quality Control Inspector

 

Summary:

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting the company's products to ensure conformance with specifications and for processing daily shipments using various freight methods. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and proficiency in utilizing various measuring instruments and shipping software, including FedEx.com and UPS Worldship.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and pi-tapes.
  • Coordinate with machining staff to provide “first article” inspections.
  • Accurately complete quality documentation, including inspection reports and material certifications.
  • Notify packaging staff upon inspection completion that customer orders are ready for packaging.
  • Prepare documentation for customer shipments, samples, and returns using computer software and online resources (UPS Worldship and FedEx.com, among others), including domestic and international freight logistics.
  • Create packing slips and shipping documentation using vendor-provided software.
  • Work independently and in accordance with instructions and established techniques.
  • Serve as backup to receiving and packaging staff.
  • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Engage in continued learning for mastery of new equipment, tools, and techniques.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the use of measuring equipment and gauges.
  • Ability to read and understand component drawings and specifications, including feature call-outs and tolerances.
  • Ability to follow written instructions with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.
  • Basic Math & Geometry/Trigonometry skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to proactively identify and report problems.
