Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for an experienced medical biller to join a great local nonprofit in Eugene, OR.

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for processing medical insurance billing requests, researching insurance denials, and addressing medical insurance inquiries. This role includes monitoring accounts receivable (AR) trends and promptly notifying management of any negative shifts. The specialist ensures accurate and timely submission of claims, adherence to industry standards, and effective communication with insurance providers to optimize reimbursement and maintain financial stability.

This role is evaluation-to-hire, going permanent after the evaluation period is completed.

Essential Functions:

· Process and submit insurance claims to appropriate insurance providers in a timely and accurate manner.

· Prepare and account for monthly billing reports for the fiscal department.

· Assist medical office staff with insurance-related inquiries and provide clarification on insurance issues as needed.

· Follow up promptly on insurance denials and delinquent payments from payers to ensure timely resolution.

· Conduct research on insurance denials to identify trends and recommend corrective actions to management.

· Maintain accurate records of all billing activities and communications with insurance providers.

· Ensure compliance with relevant billing regulations and industry standards.

· Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for claim submissions.

· Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to claims.

· Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with changes in billing practices and regulations.

· All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements and Education:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical office setting, with a focus on billing and administrative tasks.

· Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all billing and documentation processes.

· Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation.

· Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and demands, maintaining a professional demeanor under pressure.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with staff, patients, and insurance providers.

Working Conditions

Physical

Sitting for extended periods of time when performing duties. Lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds. Occasional bending and/or reaching for supplies on ground level. Continuous use of hands in repetitive tasks such as simple grasping, twisting/turning of wrists. Finger dexterity to perform various clerical duties such as typing, writing and maintaining files. Continuous speaking and hearing for interaction with staff and vendors. Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for normal processing of work.

Mental

Continuous alertness, precision, and concentration to ensure accuracy of work. Frequent performance of basic numeric calculations, as well as writing, reading, comparing and analyzing. Frequent use of judgment, reasoning and patience in executing multiple projects concurrently. Continuous problem solving. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
