Job Overview:
Express is seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join a dynamic production team! The Tool and Die Maker will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and maintaining production tools and dies used in the machining and manufacturing processes. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills to ensure efficient production and high-quality output.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tool Design: Collaborate with engineers and designers to create and modify tool and die designs based on product specifications and production requirements.
- Fabrication: Use a variety of machines, tools, and techniques (CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, grinders) to fabricate, repair, and maintain tools and dies with extreme accuracy.
- Assembly: Assemble and test tools and dies, ensuring they function properly and meet production demands.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Assess and troubleshoot issues related to existing tools and dies, making adjustments and repairs to resolve problems and enhance performance.
- Quality Control: Inspect and measure completed tools and dies to verify adherence to specifications, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of tool designs, modifications, and maintenance activities, as well as collect data for future projects and improvements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production staff to ensure smooth operations and communicate any tool-related production issues or requirements.
- Safety Practices: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a tool and die making apprenticeship or equivalent technical training is preferred.
- Experience: Experience as a Tool and Die Maker, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in operating precision machining tools and equipment.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, CAD software, and tool design principles.
- Excellent mathematical and mechanical skills for accurate measurements and adjustments.
- Ability to work meticulously and independently, as well as within a team environment.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy parts (up to [insert weight]) and work in various physical positions (standing, bending, kneeling).
- Willingness to work in a machine shop environment, managing noise, dust, and temperature variations.
