Material Handler I 

Pay: $19.00 / hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Position Summary: 

Under direct supervision, work on assignments that are routine in nature where limited judgment is required. Performs administrative/physical tasks associated with shipping, receiving, storing and distributing materials, parts, supplies equipment.

Essential Functions: 

  • Responsible for receiving all deliveries made and allocating them to the correct stock location or department.
  • Data Entry - Responsible for receiving all deliveries made and allocating them to the correct stock location or department. 
  • Offsite packaging of parts and products.
  • Unloading trucks. Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices.
  • Break down pallets and remove outer packaging which requires use of hand tools and power tools. 
  • Lift heavy items and may operate forklift.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges and prepares goods for final shipment. 
  • Examines, stocks and distributes materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines. 
  • Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped. Confirming quantity received matches purchase orders.
  • Complies with company safety policies, including participation in and completion of all required safety training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Maintains clean and safe working environment compliant with company and customer safety policies. 

Position Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. Ability to wear a respirator, hearing protection, gloves, and continually wear eye protection.
  • The ability to perform the identified essential functions of the classification, including the operation of any machinery and/or equipment that is associated with performing the essential functions. 
  • The ability to perform the essential functions of the position in a cross cultural, demanding and dynamic environment.     
  • The ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to him/herself, others or property.  
  • The ability to adhere to company personnel policies and practices, including the attendance and punctuality requirements.         
  • The ability to work well under pressure, meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines, and at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED or associate’s degree or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Information Technology Fluency
  • Preferred: 0 - 3 Years of Experience using Microsoft Office include Outlook
  • Minimum Requirement: General ability in the use of personal computing hardware and software to enter information, such as, pcs, weight, and tracking. General knowledge of processes and tools to maintain, archive, and retrieve digital files. General knowledge of receiving and sending emails
  • Materials Handling
  • Preferred: 0 - 4 Year of Experience managing inventory and ability to perform regular inventory cycle counts. 
  • Minimum Requirement: Possesses a general understanding of receiving orders and signing for delivery.
  • Supply Chain Knowledge
  • Preferred: 0 - 4 years of experience working for a freight forwarder. 0-4 years of experience in the warehouse. 0-4 years of experience driving forklift
  • Minimum Requirement: Must be able to differentiate carriers i.e. FedEx, UPS ETC.

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Speaking in front of groups.  Strong time management skills.  Self-starter.
  • Working knowledge of material handling equipment.
  • Working knowledge of shipping and receiving protocol documents.
  • Demonstrated leadership and program management skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills with ability to collaborate and work effectively with internal colleagues and customer.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and organizational skills.
