Facilities Technician

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 / hour

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm

This position is responsible for providing a level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing emergency and preventive maintenance and repairs on the building equipment, fixtures, and systems in a manufacturing environment including clean rooms.

Requires good working knowledge of all types and applications of equipment pertaining to maintenance and operations for assigned area, and the ability to work within machine tolerances. General maintenance, including duties in carpentry, painting, electrical, and mechanical may also be required.

The Facilities/Equipment Technician must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General Maintenance of equipment will also be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tag-out procedures and wearing PPE as required.
  • Operates, maintains, and repairs all facility and production associated equipment in compliance with all company regulations and standards.
  • Analyzes equipment failures, inspects, replaces, alters, and maintains in good repair all building and production services and related equipment.
  • Performs planned maintenance on all building equipment and related services for the specific area while being sensitive and responsive to customer needs.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Implements planned maintenance procedures, maintains spare parts inventory. Keeps stock persons informed as to parts consumed from inventory.
  • Assists in installing, inspecting new equipment, and servicing installations.
  • Provides support to co-workers, contractors, vendors, building managers. as necessary to support project and renovation work.
  • Complies with all governmental, company, and industrial regulations, codes, standards, health safety practices, and permit systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Responds and provides service and feedback on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Operates various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • One year of maintenance experience in one of the following trades or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and water treatment.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment background check and substance abuse test.
  • Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is also required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

  • Multiple environments – Cleanroom, moderate noise, office, outdoors.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending and squatting to reach difficult to reach areas.
  • Frequently works with and around hazardous chemicals.
  • Frequently works with and handles Hazardous Waste.
  • Occasional exposure to voltages from low voltage to 480V.
  • Must follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedures and understand the impact of position on safety and environment. Must understand consequences of failure to follow operational and EHS procedures.
