Job Title: Nonprofit Bookkeeper
Employment Type: Full-time
Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable Bookkeeper to manage and maintain our financial records. As a vital member of our team, you’ll help ensure transparency, accuracy, and accountability in our financial operations, supporting our efforts to make a positive impact on the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management and board review.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts in collaboration with leadership.
- Monitor grant funding, track expenditures, and provide necessary financial documentation for grant compliance.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP) and legal requirements.
- Manage donations and ensure proper recording and acknowledgment of all contributions.
- Work closely with external auditors during the annual audit process.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records for fundraising events and special projects.
- Provide financial insights to aid in decision-making and long-term planning.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting, with knowledge of nonprofit-specific accounting standards (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members, donors, and board members.
- Knowledge of payroll systems and tax regulations.
- Familiarity with grant management and reporting is a plus.
Education & Experience:
- Associate''s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, nonprofit experience preferred.
