Job Title: Nonprofit Bookkeeper
Employment Type: Full-time 

Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable Bookkeeper to manage and maintain our financial records. As a vital member of our team, you’ll help ensure transparency, accuracy, and accountability in our financial operations, supporting our efforts to make a positive impact on the community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Process payroll and ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management and board review.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts in collaboration with leadership.
  • Monitor grant funding, track expenditures, and provide necessary financial documentation for grant compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP) and legal requirements.
  • Manage donations and ensure proper recording and acknowledgment of all contributions.
  • Work closely with external auditors during the annual audit process.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records for fundraising events and special projects.
  • Provide financial insights to aid in decision-making and long-term planning.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting, with knowledge of nonprofit-specific accounting standards (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members, donors, and board members.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and tax regulations.
  • Familiarity with grant management and reporting is a plus.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate''s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, nonprofit experience preferred.
