Job Full Description

Our client is seeking a motivated and eager Apprentice Boilermaker to join their team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to learn the trade of boilermaking through hands-on experience. The Apprentice Boilermaker will assist in the construction, assembly, maintenance, and repair of boilers, tanks, and other large vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting and Learning:

    • Work under the guidance of experienced Boilermakers to learn the trade.
    • Assist in the assembly, installation, and repair of boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and vats.
    • Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for boilermaking tasks.
  • Fabrication and Assembly:

    • Cut, fit, and weld metal components using a variety of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick).
    • Assist in the fabrication and assembly of boiler parts and structures.
    • Follow blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy.
  • Inspection and Maintenance:

    • Assist in the inspection of boilers and pressure vessels to identify defects and wear.
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs under supervision.
    • Learn to use inspection tools and equipment to test boiler parts and systems.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Participate in safety training and drills.
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Training and Development:

    • Attend and participate in formal apprenticeship training programs and classes.
    • Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and best practices.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to learning and improving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Completion of a pre-apprenticeship program or relevant vocational training is a plus.
  • Skills:

    • Basic knowledge of welding and metalworking techniques.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
    • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces.
    • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and at heights.
