Job Summary:
Our client in the Ashland area is seeking a master multi-tasker with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude to join their team as a Collections Clerk. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer inquiries related to overdue accounts, processing payments, and resolving billing issues. This role requires an individual who can handle a high volume of inbound calls, providing outstanding customer service while working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inbound Call Management: Handle a large volume of inbound calls from customers regarding overdue accounts, payment inquiries, and account status.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer concerns, answering questions, and resolving billing disputes in a professional and courteous manner.
- Payment Processing: Facilitate payment processing over the phone, ensuring accurate application to customer accounts.
- Account Maintenance: Update and maintain accurate records of customer interactions, payment arrangements, and account changes in the company’s database.
- Issue Resolution: Work with customers to develop payment plans or alternative solutions to resolve outstanding balances.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments, such as Customer Service and Billing, to resolve complex account issues.
- Reporting: Generate and submit regular reports on call volume, resolved issues, and outstanding balances to management.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies regarding collections, data privacy, and customer service.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer service or collections role, with a focus on inbound call handling.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations with a calm and professional demeanor.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and experience with customer service or accounting software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Customer-focused with a strong commitment to resolving issues efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of collections processes and relevant regulations.
