Job Full Description
Job Summary:
This role is crucial for ensuring efficient and timely flow of materials, supporting production schedules, and maintaining accurate inventory levels. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, a keen understanding of inventory management principles, knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, and experience in supply chain or logistics operations.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock for production needs and minimizing excess inventory.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve inventory issues using ERP and available tools.
- Maintain accurate records of materials transactions in the ERP or inventory management system.
- Perform adjustments on inventory when directed or as necessary.
- Own inventory control processes to ensure inventory accuracy and parts availability for production.
- Manage the kanban process on the production floor including training current and new employees.
- Scan kanban cards daily to ensure materials needs are communicated to the procurement team.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to process expedited deliveries and vendor returns.
- Coordinate cycle counts and inventory audits to verify stock accuracy and support financial reporting.
- Coordinate the allocation of materials to production teams, ensuring they have the necessary resources to meet production goals.
- Assist with daily parts put-away on the production floor.
- Identify areas for process improvement in materials handling, storage, and inventory accuracy.
- Good communication skills.

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds and 41+ pounds as a two-person lift.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, managers, and personnel from various departments.
- Moderate proficiency with personal computers.

- Ability to work cross-functionally.
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience in materials control, inventory management, or a similar role in a manufacturing or warehousing environment.
- Preferred: Certification in APICS, CPIM, or other inventory control and materials management programs.
- Preferred: Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma principles.
- Preferred: Experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, pharmaceuticals, electronics).
Education and Experience:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Or equivalent work experience.
- At least two years’ experience and/or in related field.
