Job Full Description
General Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Clerk verifies that materials received are as ordered and routes incoming items to appropriate departments/locations within the facility.
Essential Job Functions: (Applicant/Employee must have the ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodations.)
- Unload, receive and verify against purchase order incoming materials. Verify item number, name, quantity and weight against packing list and purchase order.
- Physically inspect, count, weight and verify packing slip against purchase order and accurately notate any discrepancies or damage and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
- Electronically receive goods in Mas against open purchase orders
- Stock warehouse with received goods in designated locations.
- Receive customer returns against return authorization forms. Verify product weight and deliver returned product to appropriate division.
- Receive refused shipments, verify product weight and deliver returned product to appropriate division.
- Initiate traces for lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiates proof-of-delivery documents. Communicate accurate information to Department Manager.
- Communicate as needed with Purchasing, Sales, Customer Service, Production and Management verbally and via email to ensure needed information is communicated effectively and timely.
- Work and communicate effectively and successfully with third parties including but not limited to; truck drivers, parcel truck drivers, shipping clerks, logistics companies and various government agencies having jurisdiction.
- Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, and safety, environmental policies and procedures.
- Accurately perform inventory on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Ability to read and write and perform basic arithmetic.
- Ability to certify on and operate forklifts in an industrial environment.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by job/task responsibilities, including eye protection, hearing protection, , head & face protection, respiratory protection, hand protection and protective clothing.
- Be self-directed and able to work with little supervision.
- Ability to effectively use a computer and learn shipping/receiving software.
- Ability to work overtime (OT) if required.
- Records maintenance skills.
- Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies and equipment.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork/record-keeping.
- Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers/documentation.
- Ability to lift and manipulate moderate to heavy objects (30lbs – 50lbs).
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
- Ability to receive and/or deliver goods/materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and work equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Operate dolly, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment weighing 200 lbs.
- Lifting 30lbs-50lbs containers regularly. Lift boxes, bottles, and/or bags.
- Standing and/or walking the majority of the work-day.
- Good manual dexterity, strength, endurance, and flexibility.
- Ability to lift weight above head when required.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to hazardous and toxic substances
- Working around loud noises (conforming to OSHA and Company Hearing protection safety practices.).
- Conduct moderate to strenuous work under potentially hazardous conditions
