Job Full Description
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for supporting the procurement functions of the Health Center. This role focuses on sourcing and purchasing necessary supplies, equipment, and services while ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations. The Purchasing Specialist will work closely with vendors, internal departments, and leadership to maintain efficient procurement processes. This is a full time, 3 month temporary position! The wage range is $21.44-$28.94
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Execute procurement activities following established policies and procedures to ensure timely and efficient purchasing of goods and services.
- Process purchase orders and requisitions while ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
- Update and distribute information, authorize for action and/or comply with established accounting practices.
- Monitor inventory levels and purchasing trends to anticipate procurement needs.
- Maintain and update purchasing records, databases, and supplier documentation.
- Address and resolve vendor-related issues, discrepancies, and returns.
- Prepare reports and key performance metrics to provide insight into purchasing activities and cost-efficiency.
- Participate in group meetings and efforts to improve processes designed to improve and monitor purchasing procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
Required:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in vendor management
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience in healthcare or nonprofit procurement.
- Familiarity with inventory control and purchasing software.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to analyze data, create reports, and provide recommendations for cost reductions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and purchasing systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with vendors, internal stakeholders, and leadership.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Office setting with occasional travel to health center sites.
- Sitting for extended periods with frequent computer use.
- May involve lifting or transporting light materials (under 40 lbs.) as needed.
