Employee Benefits Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Employee Benefits Coordinator is responsible for education and customer service coordination for employees regarding benefits programs. This role requires strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with employees, managers, executives, and HR staff. Additionally, the coordinator helps manage benefit programs, ensuring compliance with policies, legal requirements, and deadlines. This is a temporary 3-4 month project, with potential to get hired permanently. The pay rate is $26.79-$36.84!

Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • 1 year of benefits experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.

Education:

  • Required: Associate’s degree
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • PHR: Professional in Human Resources (HRCI)
    • SPHR: Senior Professional in Human Resources (HRCI)
    • CEBS: Certified Employee Benefits Specialist
    • SHRM-CP: Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional
    • SHRM-SCP: Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with employees, HR staff, and leadership to ensure understanding of benefits programs and policies.
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to employee inquiries, ensuring resolution or referral within 24 hours.
  • Stay current with changes in company benefits programs, industry regulations, and HR policies.
  • Administer and maintain benefit programs, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Handle level 3 employee inquiries and resolve benefits-related issues.
  • Conduct rehire checks to verify eligibility and maintain compliance.
  • Identify and correct data errors to ensure accurate benefits administration.
  • Create insurance verification letters upon employee request.
  • Audit and update benefit information to maintain data integrity.
  • Assist with Open Enrollment, including preparation, employee education, and case resolution.
  • Manage the Evidence of Insurability (EOI) process, tracking approvals and denials.
  • Oversee benefit arrears and payment plan processes.
  • Coordinate employee discount programs with vendors.
  • Assist with reviewing, reconciling, and processing benefit invoices.
  • Support life event processing and ensure compliance with plan guidelines.
  • Assist with disability claims processing and communication with vendors.
  • Administer wellness incentive programs.
  • Review and process Employee Time Off (ETO) Hardship Cash Out requests.
  • Provide benefits education during New Employee Orientation.
  • Manage over-age dependent processing, ensuring compliance and employee notifications.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily indoor office environment with a comfortable setting.
  • Frequent sitting with opportunities to move.
  • No exposure to hazardous materials or bodily fluids.
  • No HIPAA access requirements.
