Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for creating exceptional customer experiences? We have an exciting opportunity for a Front of House (FOH) Manager to join our client's bakery team. As the FOH Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing their front-of-house operations and ensuring the success of our retail bakery.
In this role, you will use your expertise in food service FOH leadership to motivate and delegate tasks to our dedicated team. You'll be responsible for upholding our bakery's quality standards, processes, and customer service excellence. Qualification Requirements To thrive in this role, you should bring the following qualifications and skills:
- Proven experience in food service FOH leadership, with a track record of motivating and delegating to teams (1+ year required).
- Previous experience in a retail or bakery setting (1-2 years preferred).
- Strong ability to lead and direct the FOH team while providing performance feedback.
- Professionalism and sound judgment in decision-making.
- Dedication to maintaining an integrity-driven, respectful workplace aligned with company values.
- Excellent planning, prioritization, organizational, and time management skills.
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to inspect processes, procedures, and products.
- A proactive problem-solving mindset and the initiative to take action.
- Demonstrated customer service experience and skills (2+ years).
- Basic math and computer skills, including email, scheduling, memos, and Dropbox.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities As the FOH Manager, you will be responsible for various key aspects of our bakery's success, including:
PEOPLE & CULTURE
- Coach, counsel, praise, and motivate FOH staff to reach their full potential.
- Assist in conducting performance feedback, improvement plans, check-ins, and reviews for FOH team members.
- Help maintain a positive, team-oriented, and goal-focused culture.
- Lead by example, setting the mood and pace for the shift.
- Foster high team engagement through open communication, contests, and team-building activities.
- Play a role in FOH and company meetings and tastings.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new team members, adjusting training as needed.
- Develop and mentor the FOH Team.
- Handle scheduling issues, call-outs, shift swaps, changes, and time-off requests proactively.
- Communicate ideas, concerns, and needs to the management team.
- Maintain knowledge of the company's products and have a general understanding of gluten-free and vegan ingredients, diets, and lifestyles.
PROCESS & STANDARDS
- Ensure bakery cleanliness by performing daily cleaning duties.
- Inspect bakery products to uphold quality standards.
- Uphold food and workplace safety standards.
- Use, adhere to, and teach their Standards of Operation (SOPs), GMPs, Gluten Control Plan, and Allergen Control Plan.
- Conduct weekly inventory checks.
- Ensure timely inspection and proper storage of deliveries.
- Contribute to daily manager logs and refer to the manager's checklist.
- Ensure compliance with Health Department and Food Safety requirements for staff and the facility.
PROFITABILITY & PERPETUITY
- Create an efficient FOH schedule to maximize profitability and avoid overtime.
- Monitor and reduce unnecessary waste to contribute to cost controls.
- Keep a close eye on retail inventory (pastry case) and inform the Bakery Manager of any issues.
- Communicate repair and maintenance needs to owners promptly.
- Uphold their standards for quality, consistency, and efficiency.
- Act as a brand ambassador for their organization both inside and outside our bakery.
Work Environment & Physical Demands This role offers a dynamic work environment with moderate noise levels. You should be prepared for physical demands that include walking, bending, and standing for extended periods, as well as the need for hand dexterity. You should also be able to see with close vision and depth perception.
In this role, you may be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds frequently. Effective communication with employees, vendors, and owners is essential, and you will be working with restaurant equipment, computers, and phones.
