Job Full Description

Our client in Wilsonville is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join their expanding team. The role involves assembling mechanical components of automation equipment according to provided mechanical drawings, as well as assembling pneumatic components. Additionally, the Mechanical Technician will handle the mechanical aspects of testing, debugging, installing, and repairing automation equipment. A thorough understanding of the Bill of Materials and strong teamwork skills are essential for this position. 

This is a contract position 3-6 months and could be extended.

 Duties:

  • Assemble complex mechanical components per supplied mechanical drawings
    • Use your understanding of GD&T, torque sequence, order of operations, fastener torque specs (materials and tolerances), etc.
    • Use adhesives and arbor press properly and accordingly
    • Sub-assemble and set-up/install proximity sensors
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical/pneumatic problems and implement solutions
  • Determine what pneumatic components are required and assemble per pneumatic diagrams
    • Perform tubing identification, callout, and routing
    • Interpret pneumatic diagrams
    • Set-up pneumatic flow controls
  • Machine mechanical components using conventional and CNC machine tools:
    • Perform basic manual machining and use tapping unit in the machine shop
    • Operate Lathe, Mills, and Drill
  • Perform intermediate measurement skills such as indicator and micrometer
  • Assist engineering with machine and component design by contributing ideas for the resolution of design problems
  • Drive personal or company vehicle to customers’ facilities for installation or service work, or to local vendors to obtain parts
  • Create simple but accurate mechanical sketches; mark modifications onto existing drawings
  • Assist in the de-bug phase of production (modify, re-machine, re-assemble)
  • Inspect incoming manufactured parts for quality and conformance to print
  • Assist Controls and Electrical Technicians with mounting of electrical components
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and knowledge of pneumatic control and common devices
  • Excellent English reading, writing, understanding, and documentation abilities
  • Skilled in the use of hand/power tools (hex keys, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, cutting tools, measuring tools, drills, and grinders)
  • Skilled in interpreting mechanical/electrical/pneumatic drawings, diagrams, and schematics
  • Basic knowledge of component fabrication, and machine shop practice using conventional and CNC machine tools
  • Ability to use PCs for word processing and utilizing internal systems for drawing, component tracking, email, etc.
  • Ability to use CAD systems such as SolidWorks, Cadkey, AutoCAD and Inventor to create drawings
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and independently
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
  • 2+ years experience as a mechanical technician with recent high tech mechanical assembly experience
  • 2+ years in the installation of equipment, onsite at the customer, preferred 
  • 1-2+ years of machining experience is strongly desired
  • Able to communicate with staff in English
  • Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds;
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Must meet ITAR requirements.

Pay: $27-$30/hr. DOE 

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5:30 am-2 pm
