Summary/Results:
The Sandblasting Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining sandblasting and sand recovery equipment. This role involves removing contamination and scale from parts or imparting a specified finish to part surfaces under the general supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor. #1939LID
Essential Job Functions:
- Position and turn parts to ensure all surfaces are blasted.
- Safely and efficiently operate sandblasting and recovery equipment to remove sand, scale, or other markings from parts in preparation for painting or anodizing.
- Visually inspect parts when removing them from the blast cabinet.
- Manage daily schedule of parts run and handle variable workloads.
- Maintain accurate counts consistently.
- Manually load and unload racks and baskets as needed, following written or verbal instructions.
- Prepare certain components to aid assembly as required.
- Enforce safety precautions related to sandblasting, including wearing protective equipment and clothing, especially eyewear, when visitors or co-workers enter the workspace.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate effective and efficient manufacturing functions. This includes draining shakers, cleaning basins, rinsing filters, wiping down oven exteriors, sweeping the shaker and paint area, bluing area, and sandblast room, and wiping down the inside of the paint booth.
- Follow priorities to meet the production schedule.
- Adhere to established company policies and procedures, with special attention to safety regulations.
- Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines and company policies.
Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills, and Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to exercise reasonable judgment when inspecting cleaned parts.
- Working knowledge of the health hazards encountered and the protective devices used in sandblasting.
- Ability to function effectively with repetitive and routine work.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Correctable vision and hearing.
- Ability to be on your feet for the entirety of your shift.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Work in a fast-paced environment.
- Work successfully in a team environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and accept job assignments from employees other than the immediate supervisor.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
Scheduled: Monday-Friday 5 AM-1:30 PM
Pay: $17.86/hr.
