A Casting Technician is responsible for handling various tasks throughout the casting production process. This includes loading drums of materials into ovens and onto rotators, preparing reinforcement fabric, colors, and other necessary components for production. They operate mixing pots to produce different types of mixes according to run specifications and set up urethane application systems while configuring press operational conditions. During production, they operate casting machines, making necessary adjustments to meet quality and production standards. Using micrometers and other gauges, they ensure product quality, cut test samples for QA, sew reinforcement rolls, and maintain Teflon release belts. Additionally, they operate and maintain flash trimming and automatic take-up reel equipment. After production, they unload completed cast rolls, post-cure them according to specifications, and move finished goods to the storage area. The role also involves transporting raw materials from the shipping dock and maintaining the Casting raw materials storage area. Cleaning responsibilities include removing excess urethane from machines, posts, and pumps as required. The technician records processing information on Work Orders, disposes of and documents processing scrap, and keeps updated on all ISO Work Instructions. They make accurate and timely entries in the JD Edwards shop floor control system and report quality and processing issues to supervisors. The Casting Technician follows written procedures, maintains a clean workspace through a daily cleanup checklist, and supports Continuous Improvement and Lean Initiatives. Additionally, they may perform other tasks within the department, work in other areas as needed.
