The Parts Buyer is responsible for ensuring that requisition and purchasing activities conform to company policies and procedures. This role involves sourcing and purchasing parts and materials for service work orders and jobs while handling tasks related to purchase orders, receiving, and returns. Effective communication with vendors via phone or email is essential to place orders and track their status. All paperwork must be completed neatly and within a 24-hour timeframe, with follow-ups to the appropriate personnel to ensure a smooth workflow across departments. As a key member of the parts team, the Parts Buyer participates in cross-training within the department to ensure all responsibilities are adequately covered. The role also requires proficiency in the safe handling and operation of a forklift and the ability to assist with receiving small parcel deliveries and occasional truck shipments. Additionally, the Parts Buyer supports the service and sales departments by providing quotes, locating parts, and accessing factory service information. Inventory control is another crucial responsibility, ensuring that all inventory leaving the stockroom is properly documented. Other tasks may be assigned by the Parts Supervisor or Purchasing Manager as needed.
