The Excavation Project Manager is responsible for overseeing excavation projects from start to finish, ensuring that all assignments are performed safely and efficiently. This role involves assigning and inspecting work, ordering materials, and tracking time and resources utilized. The manager performs all duties of a Pipe Foreman and Equipment Operator as needed while also reviewing and inspecting the work of employees and subcontractors. Scheduling manpower and equipment, ordering materials, and verifying invoice accuracy are essential responsibilities. Additionally, the role includes performing site layout work, collaborating with the Project Manager to develop schedules, and coordinating equipment maintenance with the shop.
The Excavation Project Manager is also responsible for operating equipment when necessary, conducting and attending weekly site safety meetings, and managing overall work site safety. This position monitors the quality of workmanship, reviews and approves employee time cards, and ensures compliance with municipal requirements, specifications, safety standards, and company policies. The manager is responsible for documenting as-built conditions, delegating tasks to field staff, investigating site conditions, and preparing various reports, including Daily Log Reports and Weekly Job Site Manager Reports. Additionally, they participate in monthly projection reports, manage the condition and accounting of tools on-site, and carry out any other duties as requested by the Field Operations Manager.
