About the Role:

  • The Plant Supervisor is the person responsible for production at the glass recycling facility. This includes ensuring the production schedule is maintained, all positions are properly staffed, and all employees are properly trained in best practices involving safety, quality, and on-time delivery. This includes all shifts and communication to relevant parties in planning, production, and management.
  • Energetic professional who doesn’t mind wearing multiple hats. Experienced in handling a wide range of production related tasks and able to work independently with little or no supervision. Must be action oriented, hands-on, well organized, flexible, and enjoy the challenges of supporting management, quality, and planning by ensuring production at both facilities is properly staffed and delivery times are executed without minimal delay.

What You’ll Do:

  • Organize and schedule production related tasks, including employee training, production scheduling, reporting, and communication.
  • Immediately respond to all off-schedule and emergency related down time issues.  Any downtime longer than 30 minutes immediately contact the Operations Manager via telephone or via email.   
  • Reducing downtime is top priority. Coordinate with management, or planning, as needed.
  • Must ensure proper coverage of each shift and serve as a backup as needed within glass department to continue operations. 
  • Communicate with all internal stakeholders to ensure everyone understands and adheres to production schedules and company best practices.
  • Provide general support and training to other departments, when necessary.
  • Work closely with HR department on employee relations and workforce management.
  • Create a safe and healthy environment for all employees under their immediate supervision.
  • Manage production schedule according to quality management system guidelines, keeping records well organized and controlled.
  • Monitor, analyse, and adhere to corporate KPI’s involving Quality, Throughput, Labor, Cost Control, Safety, and Environment.
  • Analyse and monitor production and staffing needs with strong focus on cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Advise management and supervisors of any production related down time, and actively work with all parties to actively reduce as much as possible.
  • Perform regular cycle counts on existing inventory and record results.
  • Utilize ERP Software and Excel to receive, maintain and track inventory.
  • Handle inbound and outbound freight shipments via forklift or pallet jack.

 

  • Coordinate shipping and receiving functions, necessary documents, and communicate with relevant parties while maintaining deadlines and optimizing processes.
  • Maintain the production floor and surrounding areas by organizing and cleaning.  
  • Be supportive and collaborate with other team members across the organization with a team-oriented approach.
  • If applicable, train other team member(s) across the organization as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training requirements.
  • Comply with all company policies according to employee handbook during onboarding.
  • Performs other duties, as required.
