Hours: 1st week orientation, M-F 8am-4pm
SHIFT D, 7p-7a 3 days on/4 days off; 4 days on/ 3 days off
Job Summary:
Works with the Press Operator to ensure metal meets in-house standards at this position. Watches for: tear out, die lines, pick up, etc. Set up dies and bolsters plus water boxes and cooling fans as directed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· As aluminum comes out of the press, watches for metal quality, informs Press Operator of problem. Specific areas of concentration are: tear out, die lines and pick up.
· Set dies and bolsters in die cradle, making sure they are lined up correctly.
· Must know how to assist with set up of water boxes, water pans, cooling fans, and other special requirements for various alloys.
· Responsible for setting up each job as far as carbon blocks, canister, clamps, etc.
· Will transfer metal as required.
· Changes gas bottles to full cylinders as needed, and stores empties in the gas house making sure they have been secured properly.
· Regularly checks all equipment such as saws, cranes, torches, track, transfer arms, die oven, etc. Informs Foreman or Lead Person immediately of any problems or potential problems.
· Load dies in the die oven as needed.
· Tears apart dies that have been run, removing aluminum from back of die and putting bolsters away.
· Keeps all material and tolls out of walkways.
· Maintain neat and orderly work area and assist with general housekeeping of the Press Department.
· Follow Company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
· One or more years' experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Prefer previous metal inspection experience or mechanical drafting background
· At a minimum, must have previous manufacturing experience working with metal.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
· Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
· Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Must be able to work in a team setting, possess excellent communication skills, read blueprints, utilize measuring equipment and operate production equipment.
