Restoration Repair Tech

$20-$22

Duties:

Inspecting damaged areas to identify the extent of wood rot, water damage, structural issues, and paint deterioration.
Removing and replacing damaged wood components like floorboards, wall studs, door frames, trim, and moldings.
Repairing existing wood elements through sanding, patching, and filling cracks.
Surface preparation including sanding, scraping, and priming damaged paint surfaces.
Matching existing paint colors and applying paint to restore original appearance.
Applying specialized finishes like varnish or stain depending on the project.
Addressing moisture issues through drying techniques and necessary repairs to prevent further damage.
Supporting weakened structures with temporary bracing or reinforcement methods.

Requirements

Carpentry Experience: Proficient in various carpentry techniques including cutting, measuring, jointing, and finishing.

Painting Skills: Knowledge of paint application methods, color matching, and surface preparation techniques.
Restoration Understanding: Awareness of restoration practices, historical building techniques, and the importance of preserving original features.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Identifying the root cause of damage and devising effective repair strategies.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring a high standard of finish and maintaining accuracy in repairs.
